Overview

Rangeelo Rajasthan is really Rangeelo during the Holi celebration and you’ll regret your entire life if you’ll miss this chance. So buckle up and plan this Holi in Udaipur.

Udaipur was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the capital of Mewar region. Maharana Udai Singh Ji established a residence in the new region. Later in 1568 when the Mughal Emperor Akbar invaded and captured the fort of Chittor, Udai Singh moved the capital to his new residence. And the new place was named Udaipur. Being surrounded by the natural walls of Aravali hills it became difficult for the Mughals to travel to Udaipur with their huge army, horses and heavy armored forces. Thus the Udaipur remained protected from the influence of Mughals. Udaipur had been one of the old dynasties of the world.

It one of the largest forts in India and also one of the top heritage places in Rajasthan. It is a World Heritage Site included in Hill Forts of Rajasthan and also one of the top places to visit as part of Rajasthan trip. The original Chittorgarh Fort was built by Maurya dynasty in the 7th century AD. It was then known as Chitrakut after Chitrangada Mori, a Rajput chieftain as written on historical Mewari silver coins. According to history, the Mori dynasty was in possession of the fort when Bappa Rawal, the founder of the kingdom of Mewar, seized Chittorgarh and made it his capital in 734 AD. After that his descendants ruled Mewar, which stretched from Gujarat to Ajmer, until the 16th century AD.

Located 84 kms north of Udaipur in the wilderness, Kumbhalgarh is the second most important citadel after Chittorgarh in the Mewar region. Cradled in the Aravali Ranges the fort was built in the 15th century AD by Rana Kumbha. The inaccessibility and hostility of the topography lends a semblance of invincibility to the fort. It served the rulers of Mewar as a refuge in times of strife. The fort also served as refuge to King Udai of Mewar in his early childhood when Banbir killed Vikramaditya and usurped the throne. Overnight Stay at Kumbhalgarh for resort.

Day 4
DAY 04 Kumbhalgarh > Haldi Ghati > Udaipur
Drive back for New year Party 100 KM/03 Hrs

After breakfast check out and proceed to Udaipur Via Haldighati. The battle fought at the Haldighati mountain pass on 18th June 1576 is one of the most famous battles ever fought in Indian history. It was a bloody contestation of power between the all powerful Mughals and local Rajput rulers. A tale of great bravery, loyalty, ingenuity and of winning against all odds. For although there was a greater number of casualties amongst the Rajput army, who were also significantly smaller in manpower and weaker in weaponry, the Mughals failed to capture or overthrow the Rajputs. The Haldighati pass takes its name from the turmeric (haldi) hue of the soil. The shrine erected by Maharana Pratap of the Rajputs in honour of his beloved steed: Chetak can be seen near Haldighati. Haldighati also prides itself on its cottage industries; its rose products and mud art make particularly interesting souvenirs.
