'Gahan' in Sanskrit means deep, intense or impassable and The Gahan Cottage stands true to this meaning. The quaint little homestay is located deep inside a forest, in a small village named Gahan which is 82 kilometres away from Shimla.
It is run by Ms. Richa Mehta along with her parents Mrs. Krishna Mehta and Mr. Gulab Singh Mehta who are also experienced orchardists. The property is surrounded by beautiful apple orchards which are maintained by the family with great love and care. The house overlooks surreal looking hills and as you sit by the window in your room and look outside, you feel the peace and serenity in the air. The warm and ever smiling family also have an additional member, a furball named Oro who will welcome you and happily give you company most of the times.
Heart-warming hosts, fresh home-cooked meals and a room with a view to die for; what more would one want? Our recommendation is that you pack some extra clothes because you will end up extending your stay in this home away from home. Mark our words!
